CLAIREMONT, SAN DIEGO
The community of Clairemont, also called Clairemont Mesa, is located within the city of San Diego. It’s home to a population of more than 81,000 residents throughout roughly 13 square miles of land. Clairemont can be divided into the neighborhoods of North Clairemont, Bay Ho, Clairemont Mesa East, Clairemont Mesa West and Bay Park.
What became San Diego’s largest post-war residential subdivision was developed starting in 1950, originally dubbed “The Village Within a City. The design was unique because it did not incorporate the traditional grid system of uniform blocks, but rather created winding streets and scenic view lots. Clairemont’s main geographical characteristics are mesas, canyons and streams, with many homes enjoying views of Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Marian Bear Memorial Park and Tecolote Canyon Natural Park help define the areas natural topography.
