The presence of several installations and manufacturers during and after the war nearly doubled the city’s population between 1930 and 1950. A major industry in San Diego today is tourism, given the city’s pleasant climate and attractive beaches. Among many attractions are the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Balboa Park, and the Belmont amusement park. The economy of San Diego is influenced by its deep-water port, while several major national defense companies are headquartered in the city.
